Need help with 5v reference for the VSS

Need help with 5v reference for the VSS Recently, my buddy did an LS3 swap in his 2000 TA A4. In the process he ripped the wires out of the harness for the VSS. We spliced it back last night but there is no 5v reference coming from the computer. We rang the wires out back to the harness and I checked for the 5v at the pin in the computer with the key on. The wires are good but we don't get any voltage at the pin. Does anyone know what may be going on? Thank you for any help cause we are stumped!
