I have installed many a TCI trans and have had very few problems. I used to work for a shop/TCI dealer and can say with no doubt in 10 years I never had anything but outstanding service from TCI, any problems were handled quick and professionally.

Only bad thing is shipping if something does happen. Sometimes finding the closest place to your house that does good work has its advantages. Coan, Rossler, Trans King and many others are all good transmissions as well as local builders (ask around at your local dragstrip), I rebuild my own but if I needed a good trand to start out wth I wouldnt hesitate buying a TCI..

I have the Madman Racing setup with a Transking TH400 and transbrake. Top notch in my book. If only everything else I have bolted or welded to this car was so easy. Brian has different package deals for multiple applications and uses.

For a 600-800 rwhp setup like that Andy I would only run a T400, otherwise you end up spending almost as much money getting a T350 upgraded to handle the power.

I have a Lil-ol-man-bilt T400 from Houston.

I would seriously consider Coan, FLP, and Rossler. I hear that Rossler is sort of pricey.

Get a Rossler. I ran one in my CE all last season with no issues. Drained the fluid and it looked just like the new I was putting in. We have another Rossler TH400 ready to go in are Formula project. I wouldn't run anything else.
Rossler actually machines his own billet parts for his trannies. Very top notch. The only tranny builder I know of who has a 4L60E running in the 8's.

There are a lot of options which greatly affect price. But the one in my CE was around $1500. The one for the Formula was about $2800.
Carl is a straight forward type of guy. I talked to him about becoming a sponser on here but don't think he was interested. He can build one hell of a 4L60E too.

Andy, there is a guy over in Canada, Hutch Transmisions in London, ONT. He builds alot of TH400 trans for the guys who race at Stanton. Go to www.gofastzone.com & do a search & see what you come up with.

I've got his 400 in my car & it ran me in the neighborhood of $1500, and $200 extra for the JW bellhousing that I provided. 1 hr from Detroit. Top notch work & he backs up his product, I can tell you that from experience. I can get you his # if you want.

Rossler or Hutch in my book. I have a Rossler with a long list of parts in it that you won't get in a standard TH400. Like Mike Brown stated, he makes most of his parts that he uses in his upgraded trannies. I drained the oil on mine and it was as new as when I put it in the car. Price wise you can get into a starter Rossler for around $1300 to start. The deep pan, ultrabell, billet shafts, gear sets, etc. start to add up on the price and it can go into the $3000 area. The single costliest modification to the TH400 is the 1.80 gearset, which costs at least $1200 alone (I do not have this in mine).

I would close my eyes and trust Rossler or Hutch to put a trans in my car any day. That's saying an aweful lot about my trust in their reputations and their products.
