Default Early 4L60 vs late 4L60

I have a built 4l60 that came from a 1996, but i have a 2004 lq4 i plan on putting it behind. at the same time my friend has a late 4l60 from a 98 camaro which is blown, but can i swap all my parts except the input shaft over? because that seems like it would be alot easier than getting a custom converter since i built that trans myself and i can just do this one the same way.

ok, to put the 1996 4l60e behind the lq4(if it has the flat flex plate and gm spacer on it) you are all set to go!,,, if you dont have a flex plate yet you can get either the curved with the hughes spacer or the flat with the gm spacer and bolts. i would not mess with swaping aprts from the 98 unit to yours,, just use the correct flexplate and crank spacer!
