turbo 400, speedo questions

turbo 400, speedo questions how the hell do i get my speedo back to normal...
i had to disconnect the speedo to go down the track cause at 55 the speedo was hitting 155 and shutting the car off ..
how do i get my speedo back to accurate with a normal reading??
ive heard theres little plastic gears in the tailshaft where the speedo cable hooks up at that may need to be changed out ??
is this something that can be fixing through a tune ??
its a 2001 camaro m6 , with a turbo 400 and 3800 stall on 3.42s

what exactly do you mean by the pulses ?
like if i call any tune shop.. and say i need my pulses modifed cause my speedo is way off , are they gonna understand ?
any places you recommend ?
