What do I need to get the trans to operate correctly since it's going behind a non computer controlled engine? I've done some searching but came up empty handed.

You need to either add a transmission controller or change to full manual (I recommend doing a hybrid electronic full manual over a hydraulic full manual).

Love my optishift controller. It even has provisions to hook up paddle shifters. Might be neat in a classic.
