Default Stall shifting sucks..

Just got a tune after the install of my 3600 stall and i am not very impressed. When the car is in drive and you get on it, the rpms go up and then they feel like they level off before it shifts and kinda does the same thing in second but not as bad. It only does this when the car is in drive and not when manually shifting. Could this be the tune or is my tranny on its way out?

You get used to it. My car goes 3000rpms (shift) 2900rpms... speed still increasing... (shift) 2800 rpms.... around 42mph now (shift 4th) 2750 rpms.... lol

4400 stall. The rpms might not go down but your relative speed per rpm DOES go up. It's just how stalled cars drive. When it locks up (54 mph in my case) rpm drops to actual... so it's all good.

I don't mean the rpms aren't dropping enough that's not what feels odd its when you get on it in first it almost feels like it shifts early cuz right before it shifts it seems like it loses all the torque and then shifts

Sounds like a lot of Torque Management (pulls timing right before and during the shift).

So the torque management might need adjusted when the car is in drive because if I manually shift it it feels 100 times stronger then if I leave it in drive

Go have a talk with your Tuner and let him know what you think, maybe he can fix it so you like it. I just had my Tune adjusted and i can live with it. just a thought.

You need to install a tranpro shift kit and then have the trans tuned. It will shift hard and bark the rear tires. Def sounds like tork management with the long delayed shift.

Alright guess I'll have to give him a call I might just have to wait until my cam goes in so I wont have to pay for additional dyno time though. Thanks for all the responses!!!

Are you in D (3rd) or OD (4th)

3rd is what you need to leave it in until you get enough speed to need 4th

I had a 228r with a custom built 3000 stall and that bitch was nasty and it was running on a ******* mail order tune. I had head work and shift kit with all the other goodies too as well

You need to delete the torque management.

Sounds like it needs rid of the torque management and a bump in line pressure...

A stalled auto isnt suposed to have the same shift firmness as stock TC. It feels more like a easy shift. Before I put my stall in and got a tune I had the line pressure jacked up and the tires would bark but come to find out my "NEW" tuner told me thats no good. To much line pressure is not good for the trans and fully deleting torque managment is no good either. So I wouldnt go messing with the line pressure or deleting TM because your upset theres no tire chirp.

I'm not upset about the tire chip that doesn't matter to me I just don't think the 1-2 shift is right. I know the firmness won't be as firm as stock. I just don't think the shift is right. Its kinda hard to explain when I'm in drive and take off from a stop and accelerate hard the car rpms jump like there supposed to but it reaches a point where it feels like quits pulling. (So when I take off I'm back in my seat and then right before it shifts I'm not back in my seat.) Then the car will be like this for a second and then shift. I'm just not sure if its tuning or not. This only happens when I do it in drive not when I manually shift.

Hmmm. Talk to your tuner about it and see what you guys can come up with. Let us know what you find. Wish I could be of more help.

You definitely need to get it tuned could cause trans damage and it depends on who done the trans on whether they want the line pressure turned up or not and definitely turn off torque management it should shift firm and fast in ever gear
