Default how much "spline" is there on a 4L80E output shaft?

I got a slip yoke from my local driveline shop, it is fully splined and measures 4 5/8" deep(length from the tip to the center of the u joint hole is about 5 1/2").

He says I should be able to push the supplied slip yoke in all the way until the seal fully squishes(meaning the spline on the output shaft has to be atleast 4 5/9" or more)

My guess is my output shaft has only about 2" of spline on it

Does this sound right?? The transmission is from a 2002 Express Van pullout

There are several different output shafts. It sounds like you have the short spline style.
You can either change the output shaft or use a counterbored yoke.
