Default Car doesnt shift hard??

Before i got my verter installed my car would shift Fast and Hard with 2.73s with NO shift kit. Now with my 3600 and 3.73s my car seems alot slower shiftin and not hard at all..... its like it slides into the next gear and there reall no added pull.....why??

high stall TCs eat shifts....they just do...its not abnormal or anything. mine used to chirp second with 2.73s too. now i couldn't chirp it if i tried...put a modest shift kit on it. just dont go too nuts. my friend has a car that shifts so hard that tranny mounts are a regular maintenance item...

its the slipping, its shifting the same, you can't feel it.

with the shift kit in, i can indeed feel a small thump when 1st gear shifts from off the line and part throttle. its a little thud sound.

The stock program's part-throttle shiftpoints are
probably so low that the new converter isn't
coupled up. Programming might do it for you.

I have the Hypertech.... and i got th eshift firmness to 100% and still feels like it just slides into gear.....not the fast hard switch like it did before the converter

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! take that out immediately!!!!!!!!!!!!

the hypertech only adjusts line pressure at part throttle since WOT shift pressure is internally set in the computer....100% shift firmness increase is just loading the tranny fuel of line pressure at part throttle....you're going to wear out and/or break something much faster!

Get a transgo and have it installed with the 3 washers...it'll shift a little harder than it did when it was stock. Use 2 washers if you're worried about it shifting too hard. Most installers recommend shift kits to fix the sloppy shifts that occur with a high stall convertor...it's just one of those things that needs to be done with every TC install.

id go with two washers....three is overkill....

the objective is to get a quick shift. a hard shift is just gonna tear stuff up....
