Default converter reccomendation?

Im builing a lsx based 71 chevelle for a guy. I havent played too much with auto trannys, and need a good converter. The motor is going to be close to 480 rwhp ls1. No nitrous. custom pat g cam (.610 2330/238 111 idf i remember correctly) stock 4l60e with tci controller 3.73 gear nd a 20" rear wheel. Street car, with a few 1/4 mile passes here and there. Im thinking a lock-up 3000 stall converter. What do u recommend? I already put in a request with FTI on a custom converter, waiting to hear back on a price. But is there any off the shelf, budget friendly converters out there that will work good?

3600 atleast especially with that cam. Your gears will make the converter plenty streetable. 3000 stall barely gets the car off the brakes on a stock cam.

Revmax... Theyre a sponsor. Talk to them, answer their questions. They will build a converter specific for your build.. Price is outstanding as well. I have one in my car and I absolutely love it...

If you have alreadt contacted FTI and filled out a spec sheet then I would look no further. They will get it right if you gave appropiate info. I would think you will probably end up with something in the 3600-3800 range from them .

A Circle D Specialties 4C (3500-3600) stall converter would ideal for that combo and it will be very streetable with the 3.73s.

Nice build BTW.

Good luck!!
