Default another what transmission? LOL

Have done some research but still on the the fence on this one. I am considering a 4l80e lv 2 from Jakes Perf. or a 4l70e lv6 from FLT for my 69 Camaro. Both have rock solid reputations from what I see. Plans for power is a roughly 500hp LS3 and running a 3.73 gear. I know the 4l80 weighs a bit more but not sure how much that will affect me with a street only car??Also, I am wondering which would be the easier install and live the longest?? I hope to only do this once. Any oppinions appreciated.

A 4L80e will be a little overkill for your application. A 4L70e will be easier to install because of its physically smaller size. As a street car only, at 500hp both the 4L80e and 4L70e will have a very long and happy life.

One of our Level 5 4L70e transmissions will be more than capable of handling your needs and power goals. If you have any questions please feel free to PM or call me here at the shop.

I agree with Jeremy, the 4L70 is a good choice. RPM Transmission is a great choice, give them a call and they will steer you in the right direction.

At 500 HP a well built 4L60/70 should work well for you. You can't go wrong with the guys at RPM for that unit. If you think you might get the go faster bug in the future, a 4L80E might be worth considering.
