Which Torque Converter to get?? Hello everyone in a new guy to the forum and to the Ls1 platform... So my question is what torque converter to get? And should I get an Upgraded flywheel with it... 1999 Camaro Z28 Auto . Mods are :
•SLP Flow PAC
•LS6 Cam
•LS6 Springs
•LS6 Intake Manifold
•FLP LoNg Tubes
•FLP 3" Y-Pipe
•TSP 3" Exhaust
•160 thermostat
•100 Wet Shot

Welcome to the forum.
There are several reputable manufacturers. Yank and Vigilante being 2 of the highest rated ones.
I'm going with a Yank SS3600 personally and 3.73 gears.

Welcome, as stated Yank and Vigilante are great. I'm upgrading to a Yank 4000 soon. I had a PTC 3600 that worked flawlessly for 70k + miles but want to give Yank a try. Really depends on what kind of performance you want from your car but somewhere in the 3200-4000 range is most common and makes a hell of a diffrence in et at the track.
I've heard of a few flexplates cracking but myself personally have never had an issue with the flexplate. Also, get a good aftermarket trans cooler.

Correct me if I'm wrong but for a nitrous car wouldn't you want a tight converter and short (numerically higher) rear gear? Maybe thats if your spraying hard off the line... I've always wondered about this since I get so many various opinions on what works well. One of our ex-technicians used to do nothing but race F bodys and said loose converters make a stock car faster but in the end once your making good power all they do is create heat and shred the trans.

Thank you all Thanks For all your answers .. I really do appreciate it... So I think I'm going for a Yank SS 3600.. What Flex plate Should I get? What brand... Umm And so far the cheapest I have found yank for is $800 S&H... Is there any better price I can get from any store online? Thanks again guys!!!
