Doing my first 60e rebuild and can’t really hammer down any consistencies. My build includes:
Raybestos stage 1 clutches except 3-4 which is the gpz105 7 friction set with kolene steels


I quickly learned atsg doesn’t have the correct tolerances and I'm going by gm's recommendations

Forward clutch travel is measuring out at 0.065in GM recommends .034-.074

3-4 clutch travel is 0.065in, GM (0.035-0.083)

Input reverse clutch travel is 0.063

It’s a 95% street driven truck with a 5.3l cam and trailblazer i6 converter that doesn’t get babied.

I called the place I bought the rebuild kit from and he thinks that everything good and that I don’t want to set it up too tight for a street driven vehicle but I see where some people set them up a lot tighter so really unsure which way to go.

Forward clutch clearance is not critical as the clutch stays engaged for all forward speeds.
Personally I aimed for a 3-4 clutch clearance of 0.045. When I first installed the gpz105 friction set I had more like 0.060. I therefore replaced the last friction with a gpz100 which which is the same material, but .015 thicker. I then measure it at 0.045 clearance dry and after soaking the clutches and final assembly, I had 0.040 clearance. Just my opinion, I'm no trans expert.

Thanks for the Idea. I stopped at my local trans-star and picked up 2 gpz100 frictions and put thoes in my clutch pack. It tightened it up to .042 clearance. So I should be all set...
