'08 TBSS / 4L80E Issues
I posted this in the TBSSOwners forum but the guys there don't seem to be much help. According to them, there is no way that one can make it work without buying the $1,000 4L80E Conversion Kit

I did receive help from one person and managed to get the TBSS running. Here is the latest update...
I'd like to know if anyone has a solution for this. I think it may be in the wiring.

For those of you that made your own 4L80e swap, which TCM File is needed to be able to run the 4L80e with a 2007 TBSS? The 4L80e is already installed in the TBSS, I am just needing something to get the it driving. I have HPTuners and have access to EFIlive.
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks

Ok, we got the TBSS running but have encountered some problems.
To start, I don't own the TBSS, it belongs to another member. The work was done by LSX Motorsports in Mansfield, TX. I don't know the shop owner very well but the few times I have met him, he has been a straight forward type of guy. They did a good installing the bracket on the crossmember for the trans. They've done 4L80e swaps on GM Trucks without problems but this was their first TBSS. As far as the wiring goes, he says he switched pin t and pin s for the tcc lockup and wired the factory speed sensor wires to the front speed sensor on the transmission.
We put in 4L80e file that allowed it to shift and run properly from the shop to my house. This file (File 1) was created using EFIlive and then read with HPTuners Beta, before Dru posted the link. We noticed that the shift indicator on the gauge cluster was stuck on "1st", even though the transmission shifted normal. I also noticed that the MPH in the HPTuners Scanner was displaying Zero all the time. But the main concern is that the scanner is also showing a U100 loss of ECM communication, U101 loss of TCM communication, and another Uxxx loss of BCM. There was also a MAPS code and an O2 Bank 1 Sensor 1 code, but that could be related to the cam swap with the ECM tune.
The tune that Dru showed us was for an '08 TBSS but I managed to flash the TCM tune together with the '07 TBSS ECM tune It's a different calibration and the tune is a little different but not by much. Still drives fine with that one but the codes, speedo, and gear indicator are still problematic.
Attached are both files, remember these were opened with Beta.
So far both work for us as far as shifting and driving goes.
EDIT: For some reason, I couldn't attach the tunes. I can send it via email if anyone wants to look at it.

Dirty, Ive had this same problem when using different TCM OSs in hopes of getting my 08 trans to stay in lockup when you lift off the gas. Finally figured that one out about 2 weeks ago after I thought about it for a while...
Easiest thing to do is to switch the wires on the TCM or the trans. Probably at the TCM as its easier to get to. I dont know why everyone is so obsessed with running a 4L80E TCM OS when you can control an 80E with a 60/65/70E OS by switching 3 wires. Just run the factory TCM OS, program the correct 80E gear ratios, shift points, etc and swap the wires.
Register on the EFILive forum and check this link out, has all the info you need: EFILive 4L60E to 4L80E Wiring Connections. Remember this references the 1MB LS1B PCM and not the E40/E67 in the TBSSs, so you'll need to get the proper wiring diagrams for the TBSS and move the correct wires around.

It's not that easy, but try it and let us know how it works.

Yes,
Really now...
I've done dozens of these transmission swaps and keep in mind I do it for a living, running a full time business that predominantly deals with 4L80Es. I'll just say I am aware of what it takes to make this transmission work and what doesn't work.
If you think you can just swap 3 wires around and run it on a 4L60E segment, then PLEASE let us know how that works out for you.
The method to use a 4L80E using a 4L60E tune that everyone is using was developed by a customer/friend and now contracted employee of mine.

I'd start by not refreshing a 9 year old thread. Dirty 30 hasn't even posted in the last 2 years.
