13 vane or 10 vane pump?

Default 13 vane or 10 vane pump?

which one is better? i hear conflicting opinions.........anyone have experience in this choice?

13 vane pumps are generally "later" model pump design. 97+ had 13 vane rotors. The 10 vanes are just a little bit noiser. If i remember right you could get away with using a 10 vane rotor and slide in a 13 vane casting, but not the other way around. Just make sure you have the correct slide to match whichever rotor you choose as they are different. I don't think you will notice any difference in function or pressure capabilities whatsoever. If it's 97+, i'd put a 13v in it. anything prior to that, put a 10v

Neither one is necessarily "better" unless you buy a billet piece. Most of the time pump failure occurs as a result of converter hub wear or improper installation. Its not very often they just decide to die on their own without any related issues.
