Default 6l80e torque converter will not spin

I have a 08 silverado 6l80e that went with a ly6. My problem is when I installed the stock torque converter and spun it until is was fully seated. When it seats into the pump it stops spinning. Ive tried everything from pulling out on it to make sure it wasn't hitting the bell housing case to shifting through the gears and trying to spin it and its locked up. Ive looked everywhere on the web and can not find anyone who has ever had this problem or at least put it on the web. This is my first dealings with a 6l80e and before I take it to a shop to get it looked at Im just looking for suggestions or maybe someone that has had the same issue. I dont know if the pump is locked up or if it has some sort of soleniod thats engaged and needs power or pressure to release or what. Basically Im about to lose my mind with this thing and any help would be greatly appriciated.

I had a similar problem on my first 4l60e. The **** head that "built" the transmission, put a pump that didn't work in it. If you seat the converter in the transmission completly and it won't spin, then the pump is toast, or the converter is.
I think you can take a thin long flat head screw driver, and reach in past the front seal and turn the pump with the screw driver on the pump lugs. If it turns "freely" then I would check the converter stator. It's the first row of splines you see looking down the shaft of the converter. You should be able to spin that freely aswell

The stater splines and input spline engage long before the pump rotor. Chances are it is the pump rotor in the pump.
