Best replacement flywheel
What is the best replacement LS1 flywheel? I have a 99 TA with 263000 miles. We are swapping in a rebuilt LS1 with TV2 cam and ported heads. The A4 tranny was rebuilt and 3000 stall was added. We are planning to a 373 gear swap. The flywheel looks OK. But, while everything is apart, I think this is a good time to consider an aftermarket flywheel. The car will be used mostly on the street with occasional trips to the track. Thank you in advance!

Not to confuse people, but its actually a 'flexplate'. Most people assume when you say flywheel you are talking about a manual trans.
The stock flexplate is actually very stout, unless its bent / beat up id run with the stock one. You can get used stockers for 40-50 if you do think yours is bad.

'98-'00 flexplate is pretty strong. Since the OP has a '99, I wouldn't worry about this for a simple heads/cam car. I would be more concerned if it was an '01+ unit though.
Agreed. 3000 isn't even enough for the stock cam IMO. I would consider 3500-3600 the minimum.

Agreed with above. Failures are more prone to the later years and their redesigned unit. Basically, its thinner and more prone to crack. Always a good idea to replace any stocker though.
