Default Help with SES Transmission code, please.

My SES light popped on tonight and I scanned it and came up with a P0751 code. The sticky on here says it’s “Shift Solenoid A Performance or Stuck Off” but I have no clue what that means. I searched for it on here and all the results were from people who were already having problems with their trannys, but I haven’t had any trouble at all with mine. It drives fine and shifts through all the gears like it always did.

It’s a bolt on car and the transmission is stock. The car was tuned and my tuner firmed up the shifts, so I’m guessing that has something to do with it. The thing is it was tuned two years ago and since then the light came on once before last year, but I knew I had a bad O2, so I unhooked the battery, changed it and the light went off. For all I know, it was throwing this code then too and the light went off. I don’t know.

Also, the car wasn't equipped with traction control.

So my question, is this something that I should stop driving the car for? And what do I likely need to do to fix it? I don’t know a lot about transmissions, so any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Seeing in your sig that you dont have a stall I would say replace the solenoid.

I don't know a lot about them; is that something I could probably handle myself in the garage or need to take it to a shop? Is it likely that my tune is causing the problem?
