aftermarket shifter 4l60e?
Anybody using one? Like the quick silver or a ratchet/hammer shifter in a daily street car? Just wondering I see alot in the older camaros... Like my step dad swears by his quick silver shifter in his 81. Is there any pros or cons? just a thought I had and wondered if anyone is using one on a 4th Gen w/ a 4l60e.

Best racing shifter in a 99 Z28 with a 4l80e conversion.
As the title states I'm looking for the best possible shifter that will be a lock out for my z28 camaro. I swapped the 60e out for the 4l80e and I've been hearing people have some issues using certain shifters for the 4l80e, I basically want to know from all of you who have done it, what is the best fit and finish shifter out there that I won't have to highly modify to just to get it to fit.

The shifter will give you positive, locking shifts without accidentally passing a gear when you up shift, but being able to drop down gears properly requires a shift kit in the trans.
Yes, you can bang through the gears, but if you downshift to 1st and you're going too fast, without a shift kit, you could over rev your engine.

With the pro stick, you go from 1st to second without the lever, it should lock in 2nd, then to go to 3rd, you need to use the lever.
That's how the one I drove was anyways. Quite a few years ago though.

Yea I think that's why he is going with that one because he was going from first to third with the stock one. Is there still a "drive" position with that shifter? Or a button for a.trans brake?

I'm not sure about your questions though. The one I drove didn't have a button and it was on a TH350.

I got a b and m megashifter and I love it I have the shiftkit installed. The only down side is making a 3 point turn because of the the lever and that the **** gets hot...

Ok yea I was wondering as +badss+ said if there was a button for a trans brake. But also If you could put it in drive or if you had to manually shift it all the time.

I believe if that fmvb is controlled by the computer then 4th gear should be your drive position like in stock fashion mine is full manual so 4th gear is 4th gear for me. You can contact the manufacturer to be 100% sure
