Default 3800 Stall to much for a bolt on ls1?

Pretty much what the title states. Im looking at a Vig 3800 stall for my camaro. Would this be to much for a basic bolt on car? Do have plans to do a H/C swap in the future, but who knows when that will happen. Any info is great. Thanks!

Depends on your goals. I had an SS4000 in my stock internal car that was awesome for racing, but wouldn't want to daily drive it.

It won't be too much for the strip but I doubt you will like it on the street. I have a 3200 in my Tahoe and it is mild manard daily driving but you can feel it. Much looser and I woudln't want to drive around town with it I don't think. I can only imagin a 3800 isn't going to drive around town very well.

At the strip it will certainly help alot.

Dobber, the SRLS0086 is what I would put in a DD that is a bolt on car. It will drive very well under light throttle but will shine when you step on it. This is a 3600 converter,9.5" billet .It will knock 3-5 tenths off your et!!!

I guess i should of given some more info on the situation with the car. It is not my dd, but does get driven quite a bit during the summer months. This car has never seen the strip, but i would love to run it sometime just to see what it would do, just dont know where to do around here for that.

So i would probably be better off with a 3200-3600 then im guessing? I don't have a ton of money right now, and was going to buy the Vig use to save some cash. Anyone have personal experience with the cheaper Circle D converters?

A stall will wake it up.

I just did a 9" 3600 in my weekend warrior full weight TA and the difference is night and day.

Gained 4 tenths and 1.5mph in the quarter and thats without the new tune.

Got a vig 3600 here, and I drive this car most of the summer. No complaints, I would probably go a little bigger in hindsight, dont think Id mind a 4000. I was worried about the too big thing too.

No times yet, since my tires suck..

I went with the vig 4000. I got the T-Rex cam from thunder racing and it called for a 4000+ converter for autos. I love the set up but definitely don't dd my car. I did beef up the tranny after I went this rout and of course got a trans cooler also. I may have put 5 or 6 thousand miles on my car since then but had to pull my trans twice since then due to what I was told was over heating. After the first time I pulled the trans, I re-stalled the conv. to 3800. I'm now in the same position I was in the first time. Not sure if the converter isn't locking up while going down the road or what the deal is. Just something for you to think about. And if anybody else reads this and has a clue, let me know!

I got an SS 3600 in my bolt on car. I don't think I'd have a problem with a 4000 but I'd wanna add some gears with it.

4000 stall here with no lock up. I have absolutely no issues on the street. I do miss having a lockup TC though for the highway. Never drive it in rain though. Then again I spin the tires on the street in the best conditions so I guess it doesn't matter. I was able to tighten the TC by using a different transmission fluid.

We offer a 3200 11" street brawler series that is available thru JEGS.COM that might just fill the bill!!!!

i have a fti 3800 and it drives beautiful with 3.73 gears...easily could be daily driven. im pulling 12.0 on the street in the1/4 according to my g-tech and thats spinning some. my previous best was 12.2 dead hooking on the stock stall. with some traction should go 11's easy.

The Street Brawler is looking pretty nice for the price, but it will limit my cam choice down the road wont it? I was looking at the TSP 228r cam, but doesnt a 3200 stall limit you to something more like a 224r?

no not at all...the only limiting factor is the stock stall. although i can tell you right now that if you get a 3200 you will wish that you went bigger.
