Default Sonnax Accumulator staking

Hi, Ive done a search but cant find the answer to a simple instruction, On the 4L60E transmission, Im fitting a Sonnax forward Accumulator and in the instructions it says "put two little ball bearings in bore and stake the bore"
What does STAKE the BORE mean?
Cheers

The forward accumulator is in the valve body (VB).
In stock form it has a piston which rides on a 1/8" (?) pin. The pin has a mild press fit in the VB.
With the Sonnax "pin-less" accumulator, you remove the stock pin and pound the two supplied ball bearings into VB hole where the stock pin used to be.
This is needed because this hole is open on the bottom, without the ball bearings the accumulator would lose all pressure.
Once you have it apart it will be real obvious.

The checkballs that replace the accumulator pin are slightly larger than the diameter of the pin. Once installed they will never come out. Disregard the staking the bore.

What else are you doing?
Are you also installing pinless pistons for the 1-2 and 3-4 accumulators?
Be glad to help with any other questions.

Ted.

a transgo shift kit2, new a and b solenoids and forward pinless acummulator and replace 1-2 and 3-4 with alloy ome...was gonna go pinless but read mixed reviews and i all ready bought alloy ones..
maybe u could explain diffrence between pinless and ome (some said yeah its a good idea others said no need just go alloy?)

i might change in future if its really worth it..
its back togeather now and wow what a diffrence, changes much quicker and not harsh (was worried it would hit 2nd to hard as its the wifes daily drive)
quick but smooth...4th is really soft, its quick but u can hardly feel it, probly softer then before, i hope that a good thing?
really appreciate the help. (could never do it with out people like this)

Glad to hear you got the Transgo HD2 installed without problems.

I tried the Pinless 1-2 with the Sonnax Performance pack 1-2 springs; it was too soft for my liking. The Pinless will not work with the Transgo springs - the piston will bottom out before the spring does. So, I use the aluminum (alloy) 1-2 piston; definitely want to avoid the plastic ones as they crack.
You would probably need to use a billet 4th gear servo piston to tighten up the 3-4 shift, but unless you are going WOT in 4th gear, it probably isn't worth it.
