Default 4L60E year question

Hello,

I have read through many posts and still a little confused... My kid has a 97 RS that has reverse blown.. I did see that 96-97 4L60E trannys are compatible but what about 98-02 would these also drop in without any of modification or parts to buy.

Thank you in advance

In short, NO. Your '97 has a 298mm input shaft and converter. There was a big switch in '98 to a 300 input shaft and different depth bell housing. GM actually makes a conversion kit, but it will move your trans back, cost money, etc. (Its a bad kludge.) You really need to stick with 96-97; earlier ones will not be electrically compatible. (Not PWM)

HOWEVER, '98 and later V6-compatible 4L60E are still 298mm and therefore might fit. One of the trans builders will need to answer that for sure.

I see this tranny as advitise as a 97 but from a T blazer would this bolt straight up or could I just swap out the B-housing ?.. sorry I sound stupid but I am old school Turbo 400 behind my 1100 BBC blown 70 camaro anything made after 1990 I am clueless about ...... Also you said a V6 might work this person seems to think 96-2002 v6 will fit.. any help would be much appreciated
