I have a 1999 Corvette LS1 engine that I am putting in a 1969 Camaro. After much reading about transmissions I am a little fuzzy. I THINK any 4l60e auto no older than 1996 will work with no modifications. Am I correct?
Thanks,
Brian

Nope, it needs to be a '98 or later for a V8. This will have a separate bell housing with a bolt hole in the 12 O'Clock position and a 300mm input shaft. It will take an LS compatible converter and bolt right up. Anything older will have an 298mm input shaft, take an LT-style converter and need a spacer on the flexplate/crankshaft. You are correct that '96 or later will be electrically compatible.

In short, any '98 through '06 for a V8 will work; the later the better.
