Default Is this a good stall for a DD?

Hello! I have a bolton ls1 and am about to get a small cam. Found this guy that sells lsx parts in houston. Would this be a good DD stall for a smaller cam? Thanks!

Based on my research most guys on here are going to say with an ls1 no less than 3600 stall and most are split on the 4000 stall.

I personally just bought the 3000 to 3200 converter that is in the craigslist ad from Circle D which sells to Chuck. I got to meet Chris and he answered all my questions. Real personable guy.

I chose to do the lower stall because I never have had one beyond stock, my transmission is currently being rebuilt by Gilbert at Ace, and I am building this car to be a daily driven street car with an occasional get on the gas if I want to.

I don't have an aftermarket cooler and the higher stall will produce more heat than stock.

Once I get to drive it I will let you know what I think. There are a lot of daily driven ls1 motors with higher stalls.

Not bad and will be an improvement over stock. I daily drove a SS3600 and after a week I was used to it, now I have a 4000 lol

Chris from Circle D is a great guy. I will be purchasing a Converter and flexplate from him whenever the funds become available.

Unless you are planning a really small cam I would step up to a higher stall.

That would be a good one for a daily driver with bolt ons though.

I just installed a 3200 stall in my Camaro. It is my daily drive and it will most likely stay with the stock cam, maybe a small one the distant future. The car will not see the track, but I wanted to have a little more fun and try a higher stall than stock. It is a little bit different than stock, but I am not impressed.

A high stall on a stock rearend with sticky tires will kill your rear end fast. I would stay with a lower stall on a stock rearend unless you plan on upgrading it soon.

I had a 3200 and hated it. I pulled it and went down to a 2500 and love it. I guess it comes down to preference. Also my rear is the stock 2.73, so that plays into it. Plenty of stall in case I want to install a mild cam in the future.

This is not entirely true. There are many people running a high stall with drag radials that have not had an issue with their rears. Depends on how you drive it also.

Its Mostly true. I have seen post after post over the years of peeps blowing up their rear ends with high stalls and stickys.

Agreed. With a good tune and a small stealth cam it will be a good DD stall.

I had a vigilante 3200 stall, then switched to a circle D 4000 stall. It drove just the same as 3200, but was a monster when you punched it.

You can daily drive a 4000 stall easily..
