Default Pic of new Sonnax Input Housing for the 4L60E

Here's a pic of the new Sonnax input housing w/ clutch pack for the 4L60E. Hopefully it solves the dreaded 2-3 shift issues that have haunted me for years.

It's a nice piece but my advice, get rid of the red clutches...

How much did it cost you? That's a pricey item, if I remember correctly.

What clutches do you suggest? Borg Warner?

Sonnax recommends either 8x .067 frictions with seven .095 steels or 9x .062 frictions with eight .077 steels.
Personally I am running 8x .067 Blue frictions with .055 dry clearance; if I used BW High Energy frictions, I would run a much tighter clearance.

Just the drum is about $400:

However it does NOT include an input shaft. It is rumored that Sonnax would soon sell heat treated input shafts, but I bought a billet one (about $500). The correct input shaft needs to be selected - either a pre '06 without ISS (Input Speed Sensor) or a '06+ with ISS. In other words if you have an ISS pump, you need an ISS input shaft.

You also need an old-style stock forward piston or a billet forward piston. So with options and quality frictions, this can easily cost $1000+.

The top-of-the-line 4L65E from FLT, RPM and PB now use this input drum.

Here is a picture of the final assembly step:

Here is an album of all the assembly steps:

(I bought a non-ISS input shaft for my ISS pump and therefore had to mod my stator shaft and pump, a complex procedure I would NOT recommend. Hence the various stator shaft and pump pictures. I did not install the checkball into the input shaft, but show a picture of the part and part number.)

Basically, I have a Raptor Stage V rebuild (they use the reds). Not even 10 miles on it. Up for sale.

100 miles on a rebuilt Procharger D1 and 10 miles on a fresh Stage V rebuild.

For Sale. See vehicle classifieds.
