Default 6L80 Shift Flare

Im experiencing a significant flare in the 2-3 shift on a 2009 G8 GT. It comes and goes, but seems to be primarily when cold, or light throttle. I feel like im slowly burning up my trans every time it does this flare crap.

I know there is a TSB for seals but I am sure the dealer will go with the ever present "reflash" to correct the problem. Feels like a tune issue since sometimes it shifts ok, I would think seals would be an every time thing, but maybe Im wrong.

Thoughts?

Being an 09 you more then likely have the updated pump cover with the updated sealing rings. Just depends on when it was built. Leaking rings are usually worse when cold, along with delayed forward and reverse engagment. And there are no updates for 09 models that I'm aware of.

Other then that it sounds like the 3-5-R clutch is on the way out. The housing is bad about cracking. And lots of valve body issues.

This seems to be the norm with these A6 tranny's. I had a 2011 6.2 silverado that did it. A 2012 5.3 sierra that did it. And my current 2013 6.2 sierra that does it. Like yours they had cold 2/3 shift flare but never did it once warmed up. As a matter of fact 2 other buddies of mine have newer trucks with the A6 and theirs do it. It a pita but it doesn't seem to affect tranny life at all.
