Lookin for transcooler help and advice on gears
Ok so the car is a 2002 Z28. I'm getting a 3600 torque converter this friday. I know I need a transcooler but I have no idea which one to get. I seen one in a thread that was $37 and comes with most of the hardware needed for installation. The cooler was Hayden OC-1404. I'm just wondering if thats the best bang for buck option or is there something else out there. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. I'm a little overwhelmed with all the transcooler options.
Second, what's the consensus on doing gears with stalls? I was gonna go with 3.73s but I was told on here that its a waste of time and money. That comment came from JimmyBlue and RPM WS6, who seem to know their stuff and are very respected on this site. But I see a ton of people on here go with 3.73s with their stalls. So I'm just tryna figure out if I should spend the money on gears or go with a Transgo kit. Also I don't wanna for the tune with 2.73s and then have to get another tune for 3.73s.
Thanks in advance!

The B&M cooler is very popular, the 70264 is the most used, I bought a 70274 but it's huge and requires mods for install, just something to take into account..as far as years 3.73 are nice for all out street performance, I had them but swapped to 3.42 when my rearend blew up and the rpms on the highway are much better, I would suggest 3.23 for best performance and mileage combo...

Thanks for the cooler suggestion. Gonna check it out now.
I hear the Yank ss3600 is somewhat of a tight converter. Was it noticeably "looser" when you went to 3.42s from 3.73s? I'm just really worried about a 3600 converter with 2.73s because I do alot of driving in the city.

I run a big tube and fin style cooler and it works well. I run an ss3600 and 3.73s and I think its a great combo. The converter is on the tighter side for its size and when i had the stock 3.23s it wasnt too bad and I do mostly in town driving.
That Jegs cooler looks like a good unit.

I didn't have the ss3600 with the 3.73, so I can comment on that, but with the 3.42s it seems loose to me, but this is my first converter so I can really compare nit to anything other than the stock converter....its a nice combo though, perfect for what I want because I want as hot a street/strip combo I can without having driveability issues or have to install a cage
