Default RPM's dont drop right away

If i take off up the road in my car and punch it through first gear then back off the gas the rpms hang at like 3k and then finally drop down. It does it in 2nd gear also. It seems like the tranny is slipping? Or maybe the computer is having trouble deciding what gear to go into, i dont know. It just started doing it as of recently. Maybe i need to change the fluid? Anyone else have this problem. Stock tranny + converter

The only time mine hangs is when I have it in 3rd (D for camaros) or 2nd (on the shifter) and I get on it it will rev down slowly, it don't really hang when I have it in 4th/od. I believe the computer is doing it to make shure all the extra fuel is being burnt off for emisions

normally, tranny slipping will be most noticable when your foot is on the floor and the car spins up too quickly because thetranny can no longer handle the torque.
