Actron CP9580 scanner read trans. temps?
Does anyone know whether or not an Actron CP9580 scanner will read trans. temps? I recently bought one, and after rebuilding the tranny and adding a PTC 3200 converter, was wanting to monitor the trans. temp. I had it plugged into the car yesterday, but saw no live data pertaining to tranny temps. I'm new at using this scanner, so it's possible that I overlooked something while using it. I was curious as to whether anyone else has this scanner and knows for sure if it will read tranny temps in these cars. The car in question is my '00 Camaro SS in my sig.
Thanks in advance!

I guess you have to have a laptop to use the HP Tuners scanner, which I don't. I know that the trans. temp is available via OBD-2 and was under the impression that the Actron scanner would read it. Maybe I need to look into an app for my Ipod touch and a Wi-Fi OBD-2 adapter.

You might contact Actron and ask why temp isn't available; maybe they have a patch for it.
There are several OBD-2 adapters available for the Apple iPhone and iPad; probably would work with an iPod touch too. I haven't tried them personally.
If you decide on an external trans sensor, take care as I recall at least one thread where the sensor leaked and killed the trans.

Thank you for your input.
I called Actron this afternoon and was told that apparently my car isn't one of the vehicles supported by the scanner in regards to reading trans. temp. I asked the tech guy why my buddy's old Snap-On scanner would read it but mine wouldn't and was told that I basically bought a glorified code-reader. He didn't have much to say after I asked him why the description lists trans. temp. as one of the parameters read by this scanner. I guess I should have done more research before buying it. Looks like I'll be borrowing my buddy's scanner for a couple of days and watching the trans. temps with it.
Thanks again to all for your input!
