all of a sudden getting a vibration
ive added all of my mods in the last 2 months and everything seemed to be fine. now when in park i have a vibration at 1400-1600 rpm and worse from 2000rpm to 2500. i noticed it on the highway at first then i tried it in park and noted the rpm. do i have the weaker or stronger flexplate? ive read conflicting posts before as far as what years have the better ones. i was told i didnt need the tci flexplate for a 100 shot and a few bolt ons. i havent even sprayed yet. ive been practicing launching and a few races lately and the trans seems to shift fine and the car pulls decent considering the HP eating mods i just put on. im leary of driving it with a $900 converter and new flp trans at stake. could this be the flexplate damaged from launching hard recently? forgot to add i can feel it in the seat of my pants, steering wheel, and slightly in the shifter.

If That vibration started after you installed the torque converter , I would say that the converter may be the culprat, you can try taking the bolts out of the converter and moving the converter 1 hole in either direction and reinstall the bolts.

Good luck. I've had the same problem and I've tried my converter in all three different positions and the vibration is getting worse. I'm calling today to see if I can send my converter in to get it balance checked.

i had the converter installed on april 5th. i never had any issues till a couple days ago. i dont think rotating the converter will help since it did run fine for so long without any probs. the sudden appearance of the prob leads me to think that i damaged something rather than it being out of balance. today ill check exhaust mounting and change the plugs since they are the originals im sure. i hope it isnt the flexplate cause i was well prepared to buy the tci, but was talked out of it for my mods. thanks for the replys kev

I talked to Precision Industries today and described the problem exactly and they seemed to think that the problem as I described it was not related to the torque converter. I was told to start checking for a miss. I just wonder why after turning my converter, did my vibration begin occuring at different rpms.

yea i played the rotation game with my centerjunk clutch on my 93z. turned out to be the flywheel. hoping to get to my plugs yet tonight to see if that cures the prob. ill post my results.

replaced my plugs with tr6's and my vibration from 2000 to 2500 is gone. tore the hell out of my arms gettin that last one on the pass side. car had original plugs with 42k on them and they were shot. still have a slight vibration at 1400-1600 in park but its livable since i cant seem to feel it when under load.

That's good to hear, (except for the arm part - been there) I've got a set of tr55's on order. Gonna try them tommorrow hopefully.
