Default FLT Level IV Trans... What power level is it safe too?

I'm just looking for one to hold 500-525 on nitrous with heads/cam.

Doesn't say the safe limit like RPM trans does.

I'm at your power level and went with their Level VI. But I always do overkill.
Call them and they will give you a safe operation range/level.

When I think of what kills transmissions, power is not
at the top of my list. You break stuff with torque, and
power may be made by torque or RPM or both.

Now nitrous is primarily a torque adder and you will put
way more torque to the trans input like that, than you
would with a NA motor that makes its power by RPM.

I think you should have a heart-to-heart with the builder
and be specific about what you want to do. Choices
that favor high-RPM durability and ones that tolerate
higher shaft torque are sort of different dimensions,
and sometimes you have to pick one (like, I read that
the 4L65 5-pinion stock planetaries were better for
torque but couldn't take as much RPM as the 4-pinion
ones - though this may have been fixed by the aftermarket,
and was net.wisdom for what it's worth, as far as I know).

Besides Nitrous being a torque adder, it also comes on instantly which is even harder on a trans. Gradual adders like turbo/super-charging on easier on the entire drivetrain.

Also, using slicks is much harder on the drivetrain/trans than street tires and often harder than even drag radials.

True dat what Jimmy and Mrvedit said. I'd do at least a level up. Gets your the 5 pinion carriers and the VI gets you hardened shafts.

IMO I think the lvl 4 would be ok depending on how often you spray it, but going one step higher would be better. Overkill is underrated, especially when it comes to power. Fwiw I asked Chuck when I ordered my trans how much power it could hold and he said for a street driven car ~500 but not to push it, and thats for my lvl 3.

One of the reasons they don't mention their hp capabilities is because not all transmissions can hold the same type of power. For example a 400hp f-body would not need the same transmission as a 400 hp tbss.

Call them up and see what they say about it.
