Stock 60e and a cam only 370?
My cars a DD, 125k miles, trans has never been rebuilt, and I'm thinking of going 370/376, nothing more than cam only. Probably make around 420. worried that the increase in torque will make short work of my trans.. It sees all kinds of traffic and highway/city driving, some stop light to stop light runs and highway rolls, nothing past 3rd gear ever really. Not much track, only been once.
How long would it last, or would it be so bad that it'd be neccesary to go built trans?
Hell I'm scared a cam only 346 would make short work of my trans.. Am I just being paranoid?

It gets regular fluid changes and I don't completely **** on it all the time.. I wonder if there's people going to 150-170k without any problems

As for my motor, I'm either going 370/6 with a stock top end or a bored 5.3 to 346, cam only. Getting the 370 short block and a cam is just a pipe dream as of right now

I figure a lot of it can be in the tune also, between torque management and shift firmness it could probably make a big difference.

I got back in Sept of 2013, and have only put maybe 700-800 miles on it. Yes the tune can make a difference as well, but there simply isn't a huge difference with 24 cubic inches. Enough so to where running a slightly bigger cam than I did with the LS1, has made it actually a bit less torquey thank it was with the 346 LS1 and smaller cam

One other thing I was wondering is is there a limit to how high I should spin it? Being that RPM=heat. I was planning on a 6800 shift point but I just read a post that stated you shouldn't go over 6200..
