Default fox body guys- deep trans pan ground clearance

Looking into the derale 14207 for my 4l80e in my fox body. Anyone run this? Mostly concerned about ground clearance.

Some people think the Derale pan is a useless gimick. Here is a thread on it:

I read through it, I don't know if I'm buying it though. Any other opinions with an 80e?

going to hang pretty low. I had a B&M that was 1/4" deeper and it was the lowest point. I ended up with a stock pan I believe out of a truck/van that is about 2" deep so it holds about 2 quarts more than the flatter pan. also the derale pan is stamped not cast, so if it does hit something it will crack pretty easy

i have the summit pan, it hangs down slightly lower than my headers just by a smidge. holds extra fluid, only thing bad is these crazy 12 point pan bolts im having trouble finding a socket for. cheers! ps i have 2 believe an aluminum pan cools better than a stock metal pan.

I used to feel OK with an engine oil pan which hung slightly below the frame crossmember because the headers were a bit lower still. Then I read a post (here or another forum) where someone hit a raised manhole cover in a construction site which demolished the pan and damaged the engine.

Its already on its way here. I'll post results, and figure something else out if need be.
