Another Trans question
I am trying to identify what year this 4L60E is and having some serious trouble doing so. It was rebuilt with stock components, and is out of a Buick Roadmaster (supposedly). The guy couldn't remember what year the car was, he thought a 96. I want to know for sure and need to find out if I will need some sort of a flexplate spacer or something to successfully get the trans to an 04 5.3 truck motor.
The only numbers I could find anywhere on the trans is as follows.
8680561 is on the left side of the case just above the pan.
862547-4 is on the tail housing, not sure if that's just a part number for the housing or what.
Pics of the left side of the trans and connector. Any help is good help. Thanx

Show us a picture of the front of the trans; we are looking for the words "PWM" on the pump cover. Beyond that, you probably to have your remove the 3-2 downshift solenoid (nearest the shift shaft) and take of picture of it.
This is clearly a pre-98 trans and you will need at least a flexplate spacer and elongated flexplate holes to make it work. If it is a '94 or '95 it will not work without various tuning and valve body mods.

It's up at my buddies place about 40 miles so I'll grab a few more pics this weekend. I'll knock that solenoid out of there as well. If it is a 95 or 4 I'll probably be mad enough to throw it all the way to you in Michigan lol. I appreciate the feedback

However, if it is a '94 or '95 you should be able to sell it because plenty of people need those exact years. You could then purchase a used '98+ 300mm unit and get one that bolts right up.

So, with the right friends around you can discover serial numbers stamped on the case that you didn't see before, and those serial numbers can reveal that it's a 94, and that you have just wasted a bunch of cash on a rebuilt tranny that you do not want to use. I found a used 99 2wd about 45 miles north of me, and since I seem to have developed quite the case of the "f@#k its" (clinical disease) since Friday I will be buying that one. On the flip side, it will bolt up with no extras and is probably a better call in the short and long of it.

Sorry to hear of your plight, but a '94 would be nothing but trouble with your '04 PCM and LS engine.
A '99 is a much better choice, but be sure it came out of a V8 (LS) engine vehicle. Verify that it has a bolt hole in the 12 O'clock position which indicates it has the desired 300mm input shaft for bolting right up to any other LS engine. Here is a pic of what you want to see:
A '99 from a V6 engine will have a 298mm input shaft (looks completely different) and will not bolt up directly to an LS engine.
