700r VS 4L60e Transmisson
Ok so im getting alot of people tellin me to go with a 4l60 trans instead of a 700r4! What are the benefits of both trans, i know ones electric and hooks up to your wire harness plug, and the 700r4 dosent need that hook up just bolt and run cable...I guess im Just trying to see why the 4l60 is so favored??

6 of 1 half a dozen of the other!!! My personal 2cents is the 700R4/4L60 because the shifts always feel better... The 4L60E is pretty much the same trans with an electric valve body... Most of the time they just feel squishy to Me or like theyre coasting till ya give em throttle... Then again it might just be Me Lmao
What are you wanting to put the trans in???

My 4l60e is every bit as firm as my 700r4 was.
I hate the 700r4 with a passion. I would not ever want to own another one. Why? Because the TV cable is crap of the highest degree.
Another HUGE benefit is with the 4l60e you can adjust shift points, shift firmness (to a degree), and lock up functions without having to mess with internal parts.
Both of mine had the Transgo kit in them for what it's worth.

The negativity comes from people who are not familiar with them and don't know how to adjust them. I'm still running the original '93 4l60 (700) 21 year old trans. I put the Yank SS 3600 and Transgo kit in 10 years ago. The only real difference is adjusting the shift points. Via the governor on the 700 and a laptop on the 4l60e. Although it's a lot easier to push a few buttons on a computer than change springs on a governor.

Yes the 700R4s can be a nightmare. If the cable is not set right or the governor is not calibrated. Going full manual valve body will eliminate all that for you. You shouldn't have any problems at all!!!

z28 tranny
i bought a 1997 z28 that i plan on racing in the street class at the strip.its stock 350 with a 4l60e tranny. tranny needs attention 700r4 is out. what would it take to put a 350 turbo in. or should i go with the 4l60e. just want something that will hold up.

Skip both the 60e and the 700r4. The 350 is tried and true and is 2nd only to the godsend that is the.Th400. This section is chocked FULL of 60e issues, there's a reason why.

First, welcome to LS1tech.
Since I know that your first post cannot be a new thread, I'm glad you at least picked something related, although it is a very old thread. But in the future, please start new threads.
Since your '97 Z28 is an LT engine, a TH350 should bolt right up to it.
