Default What do you think of this fluid?

Brand new 4l80, 20 miles on it. Had to rop the pan because the internal shifter detent fell off, and the fluid looks to have a TON of aluminum in it. Should I be concerned?

Sometimes the paint used on the case can cause the fluid to look contaminated like that, but it's hard to tell by the pics.
Hopefully it's not a sign of bigger problems.

The exterior of my case was raw unpainted aluminium. Would there be paint inside? Thanks for the help!

We use a paint that looks like raw aluminum, and it can leave some residue in the fluid. Usually not as much as your looking at but it just depends how much overspray settles in the case. If paint wasn't used, you've got issues.

I would think you can feel the difference between paint specs (not feel anything) and aluminum particles (gritty).

Thanks for the input, trans is def hurt. Chris at Circle D is taking care of my Converter, and the trans is going back to the builder for a rework.
