Default Trans Dip Stick Tube Installation

Good evening guys I need a little help. Is it possible to install the trans dipstick tube with the motor and trans in the car? Like a dumb a$$, I just completed re-installing the trans and I forgot to install the tube. Any suggestions on how to complet this task would be greatly appreciated.

People say it can be done, but I sure don't have the patience. I tried to pull mine the other night and tweaked it a little and fought it for quite a while. I finally gave up and cut it into 3 pieces just to get it out. I then ordered a 36" flexible lokar replacement so I never have to mess with it again . I've heard the lokar is a pain to check and fill, but it can't be any worse than trying to maneuver the stock one.

Bama99z, you are not the first person to forget the trans dipstick.
I remember, but cannot find, a detailed thread on this about 1-1/2 years ago.
As I remember it, the solution was to raise the car on jack stand and have a one person under the car guide the dipstick from there while the other person is guiding it from the top. A 2 person job.

As suggested, I would expect that lowering the tailshaft would help even with two people.

Default Fixed

I got her fixed tonight. The soultion that I used was to remove the transmission, and lower the k-member. I have the luxury of having a lift in my shop and a transmission jack which helped alot.
I'll bet you one thing, I won't ever forget it again. My dumb self didn't even have the tube in the car at all.
Thing is I've put many transmissions in over the years and have never done this. Makes me feel like a rookie!!!

Glad you got it fixed.
I think everyone here has made equally silly mistakes working on their cars. Did I mentioned once forgetting the camshaft bolts?
