I've looked over the FLT levels and spoken to Chuck; I don't know RPM well, but FLT and RPM are very similar and both top-notch.
Get the Sonnax Smart Tech input drum and at least a billet output shaft; a billet input shaft is another option. The FLT Level 7 has some/most of these parts; the billet input shaft may be an option. Those parts in a premium build from FLT or RPM is as good as it gets. It will get close to $5000, which is why at that power level I recommend a 4L80E.

The weight difference isn't that significant. Its about 40 lbs not counting the converter. Aftermarket similar diameter converters for the 80e and 60e wont be much different in weight either.
Most people say that the 80e is ~100 lbs heavier than the 60e, but they are considering the weight of it with the stock 75 lb converter in it, which nobody plans to use when swapping it into their car.

Very true about the weight difference - it is not that great once you dump the stock converter into the landfill. A 4L60E is 135 lbs ( weighed it) and IIRC the 4L80E is 180.

I weighed both of them (they're both in my garage). Neither was with converter and both of them had the fluids drained (but I wouldn't call them 'dry').
4L60e was 137 lbs. 4L80e was 178 lbs. I guess a 40-45 lb difference is very good estimate. The good news is, most of the extra weight is pretty low on the 80e. My Circle D billet converter for my 4L80e actually weighs less than a stock 60e converter.
