Default Will it still be drive able?

I'm in the process of swapping t-56 to 4l60. My question is once I get everything together will it shift out so I can drive it to my tuner. Or will it not be until he tunes it?

Yes. The trans will be in limp mode - it will start in 3rd gear and stay in third gear.
I won't drive it a zillion miles because the line pressure will also be maxed out, but I don't see any problem driving it 10 or even 20 miles that way.

If you need to drive much further, tell us how far and perhaps one of the pros can answer whether that is still safe.

Personally I wouldn't even plug the trans harness connector into the trans to ensure the trans doesn't receive strange signals, but that might be unnecessary.
