Cam/boltons/125 shot.. What's trans do I need?
Everything in sig. Just got a plate kit and want to run a 125 shot in the near future on a progressive controller. What trans will I need? I don't think my shiftkit/trans cooler 4l60 will hold. I put down 380 ish in mustang dynos already.

Lets see what various NO members say, but I think the consensus will be to run the trans until it blows. The HD2 shift kit and cooler greatly increase the probability it will last a while.
If/when it does go, a higher level 4L65E with a billet output shaft from one of the sponsor should be able to handle your power level; it will likely cost around $3000. The alternative will be to spend the $3000, or perhaps a bit more, to swap to the much stronger 4L80E.

I had my 4L60e built, more than once! I was running a 150 shot and Heads/Cam. Somewhere in the 550hp range and launching on the spray. I would run it until it breaks and never spend another dime on it! Get the 4L80E or TH400.

got about 8000 miles out of a "high performance" rebuild of the 4l60. that was only bolt ons cam and 4000 stall. got a fti th400 thats good to 800hp. i would run it till it goes then do it right and not look back. go with a 80 if you do a lot of highway driving. im kinda wishing i would of went that route instead of a th400. but, i am very happy with it otherwise
