Default ATI rmvb th400, no 3rd gear at wot??

This is in a procharged '04 gto, shifts fine normal driving, but everytime going wot it seems to hang up. About the end of my rope with this thing. fluid looks fine, and at proper levels. About to just bite the bullet and put a built 4l80 in it.

Have you checked fluid level and shifter adjustment?

I've seen plenty of transmissions cook themselves that "shifted fine" until they didn't anymore because of a misadjusted shifter.

Fluid level and shifter adjustment are basic installation procedures. If you install the transmission, you should know how to do these and there should be no doubts that they are correct.

A few pointers,

you could have a bind in the cable under heavy throttle causing it to not shift.
You're adjustment could be off and the above is contributing.

3rd gear on a RMVB is at the far end of the shifter's range, another indicator to look at the shifter and cable...

Anytime you have a transmission problem (applies to everyone reading) there is a logical sequence to diagnosis. Calling the vendor is probably going to get you the same answer.

Fluid level. Is it full and is your dipstick correct? There is more to this than just reading the dipstick.

Shifter adjustment. This can take quite a bit of time when done properly. It seems many "techs" don't really understand the importance of it.

Line pressure check. This can show faults with the above and many others.

After this it becomes more transmission specific testing.
