4L60E Input Shaft Leaking

Seriously, you have to replace it. Assuming you buy a new GM one, the shaft and drum come as one unit.
I recommend adding the Sonnax input drum reinforcement kit which strengthens this area with a steel ring. The kit includes a custom overrun piston which only works with the older style aluminum forward piston.
(I need to check the details, but Sonnax now also has a billet overrun piston which works with the new style steel piston.)

My son is a machinist so we modified the stock input drum to except and bolt on end plate similar to the Sonnax Smart-Tech Input Drum. Installed a new input shaft along with the Sonnax input drum reinforcement kit. Anyway now it’s leaking. I removed the shaft today, cleaned it up and reinstalled it with green Loctite and left it alone for the Loctite to set up. I am hoping this will seal it up.
Are these things so acceptable to leaks when you change out the shaft?

Thanks for the info built408.
It didn't seem right that I would have to buy a new drum and shaft just becouse of a few bubbles. The green sleeve retainer I used stopped the bubbles so I installed it. I guess time will tell if it is truely repaired.
