which converter / anyone with a converter
i am getting my tranny rebuilt this week so this is a good time to possibly upgrde my converter. i dont want somthing too wild . this car is my daily driver and i want reliabiliy . i also dont want to spend too much on this car .i was thinking maybe a 3000 would be ideal but possibly a 3500 converter would be the most i would consider. i somtimes blow a 100 dry shot on the car . any suggestions?
here is what i would want feedback on
what company should i go with and why
and what stall would be good ? .
thanks in advance

I'd go with a TCI 3500 in your case. TCI is a great company with excellent customer service. I ran 11.82 NA with that converter and an internally stock engine, 3.23 gears, with a raceweight of 3550 lb. It'll work great with a 100 shot.

Yank SS4000E
Beginning to wish I went with that converter.
BTW I went with an SS3800, I have 2.73 gears
or you could just listen to Colonel, he is one of our forum experts

I just got the TCI SSF3500 about 1.5 months ago and agree with Colonel... I love it!
I was worried at first because it sounds like a lot going from stock, but it's not bad at all for daily driving. You will read that you need better tires, but I'm running it on the crappiest tires I have ever had (Kuhmo 712s) without a problem on the street. You just have to be careful and not floor it right off.. no track times yet though because the people building my transmission are stupid and its in the shop for its 3rd rebuild in 1000 miles. (thank goodness for warranties!)

I just put in the TCI SSF3500 and let me just say BELIEVE THE HYPE. This stall rips, I can't wait to install the 3.42s I'm going to get. It's a completely different car with this stall. It's not killing me on gas either. That was my big worry, I have yet to go WOT on it. I'm still "breaking it in". I have gone 1/4 throttle and let me tell you, even THEN it's a big difference. I'm kinda scared to go WOT.

Vig. 3200 with 3:73 gears are great street/strip combination.
Yank SS 3800 is good.
Don't have any experience with the TCI's, but I know from feedback they are pretty good. Cheers....

haha, I just went HALF throttle at about 45-50 mph and it still fish tailed a bit. When I had BAD tires I punched it from a dead stop and I ended up in a ditch. I don't think I'll be going WOT with this stall now. I'm also surprised with the gas mileage. I thought it was going to kick me in the *****. I haven't really noticed much of a drop in miles per gallon. I couldn't be happier with this converter.

Just your typical bolt-ons and programming done by me. Stock heavy wheels too. Good weather and a good track help.
