Default Trans temp sending unit and teflon tape

I'm in the process of installing a few gauges in my car, one of which is a trans temp gauge. I have the sending unit installed with a little teflon tape on the threads, since that's what the Autometer instructions said to do. I've just read a few threads on different forums stating teflon tape should never be used. Should I removed the teflon tape and use high temp RTV instead?

The concern is tiny bits of tape coming loose. I don't use teflon tape in the fuel system because even the tiniest bit would clog an injector. Don't think a tiny bit would hurt the trans; be careful not to let any tape past the threads which might cause a bigger piece to come loose and clog a valve.
Where and how are you mounting the temp sensor?

Imma use the teflon on mine. Fuel pressure gauge. Just not going to let it pass the threads.

I used teflon tape on my trans temp sending unit, trans cooler fittings, and fuel rail fittings. All are great with no leaks.

I use ARP thread sealer, but there may be better products for higher pressure:

If you install the Teflon tape correctly, you should never have a problem with the tape getting into anything. It works very well. I have been using it when it used to cost over $10.00 for the little roll of it.
