cam only ss3600 stock 4l60e ok?
We have a dilemma. The stock transmission has 140k on it and we've got a new ss3600 sitting here. We don't want to put the converter in just to have to pull it out in 2 monthes so were going to have the 4l60e rebuilt. Is a stock rebuild enough? The car will be 99 percent just a crusier with the occasional track pass.

Depending on your budget it might be better to get it rebuilt with upgraded parts Imo. When I did my converter I put an FLT trans in with it because mine had unknown milage and was starting to act up and I didn't want to get a stock rebuild and end up having to do the job again.

I have been running my 4000 SS in my stock 4l60e for at least 250 runs. This is with a cam only car cutting 1.50 60' and going 11.50. My wife's car has same converter stock trans with 175 runs. This car cuts 1.62 60' and will go 12.23. Both trans might go on the next pass but they have been good to me.

If you're lucky the transmission will last you a while. An upgraded converter is a lot for the stock tranny to take and you're trying to add a cam on top of that. If you want to save yourself a headache then be patient and do it right
