Default should there be ANY play at all????

when you reach up and grab the front of the drive shaft, where it goes into the transmission and shake it, should there be ANY play at all?

I am getting a slight vibration during hard acceleration.

My drive shaft does have a very small amount of movement. replaced u joints already. wondering if my problem is in the transmission.

Nope, a little is normal. However, it's not too hard to replace that tail shaft bushing if you think it's worn but I doubt it is. I've seen people replace them chasing vibrations and it never fixes it.

thanks for the response. When I say very little, I do mean VERY LITTLE.....so my guess is that is not my problem.

the vibration does seem to be acceleration related....so maybe Ill check rear end.

Some transmissions have more play than others. Agreed this area isn't usually the cause of vibration.

Any adjustable suspension components? Have you checked pinion angle?

all suspension is factory at this point. I havent checked anything else yet. just replaced the u joints and noticed the small amount of play in the trans.

its been too damn cold and nasty here to be doing any car stuff this week.

I will be checking some things this saturday.

Why did you replace the u joints? Was the vibration there before you replaced them? If the yoke and driveshaft arent orientated like they were stock then you can get a vibe...this can happen easily when swapping u joints.
