Default Driveshaft too short?

My buddy had a 4l80 swaped on his 03 silverdado. He knows nothing about cars and put his trust on some shop in Fontana who ended charging him almost 5k to swap in a 6.0 and trans my buddy had bought.
Anyhow the trans has a bad leak somewhere so I lifted the rear and noticed the the yoke was sticking out why too much. Can this mean the driveshaft was cut too short? There's no vibrations while driving at speed. Also noticed that the yoke is kinda moist while the rest of the trans is dry Is it possible the yoke is cracked? Is that common. The trans came from a van but doesnt know what year and he doesnt want to deal with that shop anymore.

The driveshaft is way too short. IMHO dangerously too short. A big bump at high speed could pull that out, demolish the car and injure the occupants.
Wow, someone charge $5000 for this incompetence?

I suspect the rear seal was not replaced and is leaking.
