4l60e temp sender pan location
My transmission is being rebuilt so I am unable to find a suitable location for my temp senders. Im trying to determine what section of the pan will have the most room. Driver side front; under the shift linkage? Rear of pan? Passenger side front or rear? I am having 2 small bungs welded into the pan. Hope this makes sence. I have a 1998 Z28 with Pacesetter headers, 3" exhaust, Spohn crossmember mounted torque arm.

I just removed that pan and hung it on the wall. I will see if I can get you a picture later. Also, I think B+M makes a steel deep pan that has both the temp bung and the drain. That's what I replaced it with.

The best place to install a temperature gauge is in the return line (top line) going back to the transmission. This will give you "real time" temperature readings. The pan and case are slow to show changes.

^^^Agreed, if you make a track or other high speed run, it may take a few minutes afterwards for the temp to stop rising, meaning it likely wont even start to rise till after the run is over. Other then being delayed is still seems like a good choice for location.
