Trying to Fit 4L80 into a 3rd Gen Car ???
Looking for some help or others that have done this.
What trans crossmember did you use?
How much massaging of the tunnel did you have to do?
Which torque arm are you using?

There are many detailed threads on the subject, including this one:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...l80e-swap.html
This short thread summarizes the process (even though it was a T56 to 4L80E swap):
https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...80e-build.html
Seems most members end up cutting a section out of their tunnel to make room for the electrical connector; others pound the heck out of it.
If you need more, use Advanced Search and search for "4L80E swap" in this section for an evening of enlightend reading.
Or ask more specific questions.

Ummm...well those threads were not quite what I asked, but thanks for posting them, they will be helpful down the road.
I specifically titled the thread for installing a 4L80 into a 3rd gen car as in 82-92 model years. I guess I could have mentioned "700R4 to 4L80 swap" instead.

I'm planning to install a 4L80E in my '84 TA. From the reading I've done on thirdgen.org it should fit without tunnel mods. I'm going to fabricate my own crossmember and will be using a BMR Trak Pak torque arm setup to get the torque arm off the trans tail shaft. I'm going to use a B&M megashifter made for the third-gen. I used this shifter & tranny combo in a '72 camaro so I know it will work fine in the '84 TA. Hope this info helps.
