Do yourself a favor, go braided/AN to start. The rubber hose with clamps will eventually fail, and it sucks. Generally speaking the bigger the better when it comes to the cooler. The one in the thread is about as big as you would want. I don't plan to run a fan myself, but I also live up north and its not a daily driver.

To summarize it, it appears that stacked fin coolers give the best performance and a good choice is the B&M 70274 which includes threaded fittings for each adapting to AN lines.

My takeaway from the big cooler thread is
A) best option is to get a large enough cooler and omit the stock one inside the radiator entirely
B) if 'option A' can't work for whatever reason, the aftermarket cooler should be inline AFTER the stock cooler inside the radiator
