Default Desired shift time...

In a stock 4L60 (65 in my application), are factory computer requested shift times set based on limits of the internals of the tranny... are they set to shift smoothly for the 'general population'... or is it a combination of the two but based mostly on tranny life?

This isn't likely, but is there a general "safe but quick" desired shift time I can set that won't reduce tranny life?

I've read up on zero'ing out everything, but I'm too paranoid for that.

Thanks.

Default

Predator zeroes them when you select -20% shift
times or lower. WOT puts them much lower than
part-throttle. I believe the values are a comfort
compromise and one inappropriate to a sports (let
alone performance) car.

I have been romping around since nearly new with
the values either zeroed or, now, about 0.1 - 0.15
with no evident problems (18K miles or so).

I don't think soft applies under moderate load are
good for the transmission - it puts more heat into
the clutch packs, not less. As long as the apply is
not enough to shock-load-to-damage the guts,
quicker is better sez I.
